Tomasz Wisniewski of Poland defeats Britain's Rob Davison for International Heavyweight MMA Title at Total Combat 27

Fight fans once again packed the Rainton Meadows Arena for yet another excellent night of amateur, semi pro and professional mma bouts.

With no less that four title fights, comprising of three British title fights and one heavyweight international fight, MMA fans were in for an rich card of mixed martial arts.

Tomasz Wisniewski left no doubts that he is as cool as candy in a hot situation. It was always going to be dangerous for Wisniewski when he entered the cage for this prestigious, international title fight. Taking on 'Rob Davison', one of the hardest hitters in this MMA division was going to be no easy task. Wisniewski made three attempts to take the fight to the ground and took some hard hits from Davison for his trouble.
Then, when it did go to the ground, it was Davison on top. Davison started raining down punches to the head and body of his Polish opponent. It really did look like Rob was heading for a fast victory, then he made that fatal error by presenting an opportunity to cooler than cool Wisniewski, in an instant Tomasz had him in an Armbar and it was 'Goodnight Vienna' for the hard hitting British heavyweight fighter, left with no option but to tap out. Tomasz told me he is taking at least three months out of fighting to study, but will be back and ready to do battle in 2009.

Notably Jay Furness of Caged Steel Fight Team in West Yorkshire did the double. First he beat Dave Dawson from Sunderland Combat Forum, then later in the night he stood in and defeated Jordan Colbeck of Yorkshire Neo Shoot Submission Fighting Team.

Alan Miller and Geodie Burton had fight fans on the edge of their seats in an exciting first round battle, both fighters coming out for round two with obvious signs of fatigue, but then Burton was knocked down about 50 seconds into round two and was unable to stand and fight, so the referee called an end to the fight declaring Alan Miller the winner by a T.K.O.

Andy Ogle added another impressive victory to his unbeaten record of 3 fights and 3 wins. Young Andy is lightning fast with heavy hands and great kicks and on Saturday night demonstrated excellent Ju Jitsu too, ending the fight one and a half minutes into round one via a Guillotine Choke.
