A Storming Night of MMA at Total Combat 26
Anyone who knows anything at all about mixed martial arts competition organisation, also knows that the end fight list is often different to the starting list. For one reason and another fighters often pull out or are pulled out of a fight, quite often because of injuries, medical failure and sometimes personal reasons. Peter McQueen had no less than 13 fighters pulled from his original list for Total Combat 26, but this just shows the determination and the measure of the man, as Total Combat 26 turned out a storming night of MMA action to a packed house and delighted crowd at the Rainton Meadows Arena.

Excited fight fans watched a mixed card of amateur, semi pro and professional fighters get it on with featherweight - amateur - Tom Hodkin from Caged Steel taking out Craig McCormack from Ferryhill MMA Club with a triangle choke halfway through round two.
Local boy and semi pro Gary Conlon from Sunderland Combat Forum Ju Jitsu Club beat Rhys McAlester of Shildon Phoenix Thai Boxing Club, in their featherweight bout. Conlon ended the fight with a neatly executed arm-bar only one second from the end of the first round.
Adil Malik made the entrance of the night with his dance routine, but was less impressive in the cage. David Grant of Ferryhill MMA Club beat him in 32 seconds of round one.
Pete Hill of Combat Base in Pontefract walked away with the Semi Pro British Lightweight Title after beating a disappointed Ben Ashman.
Rob Davison of Westoe Shootfighters in South Shields beat Scarborough MMA's Dave Daubney in what has become dubbed (unofficially) a re-match. Daubney contested the result of Total Combat 25 when the referee ended the fight calling a tap out. Dave said he hadn't actually tapped. There was no doubt this time though as Davison dominated the professional heavyweight bout. For a man of his size he moved around the cage like a gazelle - landing punches, elbows and kicks in the standing game and plenty of ground and pound on the ground. Eventually three and a half minutes into round one, Dave tapped out, putting an end to the controversy following their fight at TC25.
The night ended in style with Andrew Fisher of Sunderland Combat Forum Ju Jitsu Club, winning the Professional British Lightweight Title fight against Mancunian Will Burke, by back hammer-lock, round one in the fifth minute.
